a breath

A sweet friend invited me out to her home in the country,

and my daughter and I were able to make it a girl's day today.

The day was filled with home cookin', ramblin' in the woods,

painting, animals and generous hospitality.

  My daughter wants to return soon, 

and my son is crying foul that he didn't get to go along!

What's a mama to do? 

Invite herself back for that breath of fresh, country air.

I know Wendy won't mind

since she already invited us to return!
