simply acknowledging
Is gift giving about how much I spent? how trendy the gift?
Is creating about how perfect the craft? how fine the recipe?
(My buttery icing tracked red cake crumbs throughout...do you think my children will judge? I'm finding they learn to judge if I judge and criticize if I criticize.)
Or is it about choosing an opportunity to relate, taking the time to notice the people receiving the gift?
Simply acknowledging a life, means someone now is known.

Our children do learn to criticize from us. There is nothing more terrible than observing a bad behavior in my kids that I know they learned from me!
