gardeners love to share

Whenever my husband gets the chance to talk with someone about gardening he almost always mentions the square foot gardening philosophy. Well, he mentioned this to a friend a couple of years ago who was struggling with his garden, and since then this friend has created a beautiful gardening oasis in his backyard, full of tomatoes, lettuce, swiss chard, peppers, beans, strawberries, peas, onions, potatoes and eggplant.

The eggplant pictured above is called Ukrainian Beauty - isn't the green color wonderful? We'll be having friend eggplant this evening with dinner. Henry gave us eggplant, onions and potatoes. We've never grown potatoes, so those were particularly inspiring especially since they were ready to harvest after just two months. Henry credits my husband with garden inspiration, but after seeing his garden we are inspired by him!
