garden progression

In years past I have not been diligent to take pictures of the garden as a whole throughout the year. This year I am committed to see the garden progress via photos. This provides a great visual record, and encourages us to keep working!

 mid-March
after the 5 new 4x4 boxes on the right were built
(4 in which potatoes are planted)
and compost added to all the boxes

early May
a disappointing snowfall!
we were worried enough about our potato investment
to rig up coverage for them

late May

as you can see the potatoes look great!

(the 4x4 box in the middle of the potatoes are small bush bean plants)

we're pleased with growth so far,

and have begun to harvest spinach and lettuce for salads

and herbs for tea.
