12 days until spring
How does the meadow flower its bloom unfold?
Because the lovely little flower
is free down to its root,
and in that freedom bold.
-William Wordsworth-
Ever the skeptic,
I thought,
this time my Forsythia branches won't bloom.
I think the same thing about the grass turning green,
and any of our plants growing, producing blooms and fruit.
However,
my skepticism holds no sway over these branches.
Diligently they've been watered
(however skeptical, I can't keep from doing my part)
and so,
bloom.
Even my skepticism can't tame this plant's freedom
to express itself as God intended.
That
is a comfort.
