a little irish
Although my husband looks more Irish than me, I'm actually more Irish than him! However, because of his interest in Ireland we always make an effort to do a little something to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. This year over a dinner of Beef Stew and Irish Soda Bread we talked about Patrick's life as a missionary to the Druid people in Ireland who kept him captive as a boy. It's quite astounding that around the age of forty (after his escape years earlier) Patrick returned to tell the truth of God and Jesus to those who held him prisoner. The shamrock plant is significant because Patrick used it as a picture to teach these people of the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit - three in one. Great symbolism from a beautiful plant.
