the may thru mid-june garden ~ 2021
Well, the garden is just stunning right now. We are doing our best to not get in her way, but keep her trimmed and watered so she can keep showing off. All the blooms - peonies, hydrangeas, irises, poppies, honeysuckle, ladybells, hollyhocks, roses, viburnum are just stunning, and such an enjoyable view from the deck. We even unintentinally, strategically placed the vegetable garden centered from one of our bedroom windows - such a delight to see from that space. It's all just so lovely!
We have had a steady flow of greens for salads and are now also enjoying snow peas, with many pounds being stored in the freezer. Tomatoes, beans, potatoes, squash, garlic, carrots, beets, blackberries, raspberries, herbs, wildflowers are growing like wildfire. The freshest abundance of eating is soon to come. I have learned that once one vegetable is done, to clear it in a timely manner and then replant (called succession planting) to make the most of the soil and weather conducive to growth. Within weeks I'll clear the snow peas and greens to plant, well, I don't know what - maybe more flowers, of which I cannot have enough.
