darling blooms of may

I have lived my entire life in the Kansas City metro area and I do not have a memory of experiencing such lovely weather for the entire month of May. Oh, maybe a day here or there with a high in the 70's, low winds, and almost no humidity; but, an entire month? It really was so enjoyable, and now that June has arrived, along with its humidity and heat, it makes me that much more grateful for that month of sweatshirt weather with almost perfect conditions for gardening. We mulched, composted, planted most of our vegetables, weeded, trimmed, and had fun planting a few new bushes - roses, viburnum, hydrangea, dogwood. It's now time maintain by weeding and watering, but really the sun will now do it's work to encourage all the plants to grow and June should bring even more blooms.
