Last Autumn we spent the Thankgiving holiday at the Buffalo National River. Our intent was to enjoy the trails with not just one but two dogs. However, we soon realized it was a bit lively for our family to do so and instead split up for our hikes, mostly without the dogs!

Old favorites were enjoyed - Tanyard Creek (dog friendly) in Bella Vista, Smith Creek (dog friendly), Whitaker's Point (dog friendly), Lost Valley, and Ponca to Steel Creek.

Jesse and I explored new-to-us waterfalls found off the (very) beaten path - Paige Falls and Broadwater Hollow Falls. It takes longer to drive the road to the trailhead than it does to hike the trail to these beauties, but we were glad to make the effort. Being in such a remote location it was blissfully quiet and peaceful. The trail to these falls is connected to to the Cecil Cove Loop, which we did not pursue that day. That loop has warnings of extensive creek crossings and dangerous trail erosion; it will also take an entire day to complete, so we haven't committed that time. Being so inaccessible the trail is not going to be heavily trafficked and would probably make for an impressive hike. These falls - Paige and Broadwater - were sweet to enjoy and get a glimpse of what more we could experience if we hike the Cecil Cove Loop one day.
