'Tis the season to be oh so thankful God provided the resources, physical strength and favorable weather to reap a bountiful yield from the garden for another year! Yes, we will eat all 604 pounds of what we grew, and sharing some with friends. The colder weather comes with much anticipation to let the raised beds rest and for the laborers to enjoy the outdoors through leisurely walks instead of gardening with such intent. The culinary delights of using the herbs, fruit, vegetables we grew ensues once again and it is so pleasant to create in the kitchen with what was grown in the garden.  october continued to provide fresh blooms to cut and bring indoors. many flower seeds have been gathered and stored for next year. a busy october of travel and other responsibilities meant the garden clean-up began in november. all of the raised beds are now filled with a blanket of leaves, and some even received fresh compost, if needed. tidying, trimming and a touch of transplanting will continue here and there as I have time until the weather is just too cold. missouri weather is so dramatic and extreme that it really is nice to segway to now spend a few months in the winter season.
