Visions of the Season

my 50% off santa

 little hands icing a cookie

chomping frosty's head

yesteryear's Christmas ornaments
picked up on a hike
just as good this year

50% off jingle bells
(i'm seeing a theme...)

posterboard snow bunting cutouts

toy browsing just for kicks with daddy
so serious, this iron man of mine!

the only decoration we bought this year was our tree.
it's awesome to look for sale,
buy what you like,
and re-use year after year.

last friday was supposed to be our
"Christmas decorating" day
complete with shopping for a tree,
a pizza dinner
with the luxury of having my husband off work.
then, my sweet daughter caught a stomach bug.
after doctoring my son earlier in the week
i was able to tend to Ella
with good energy and mental clarity,
praise God for that provision!

the day was still a sweet one
as my daughter and I became one with the couch,
watched too much television
and handed the reigns of Christmas decorating
over to the men.

as of mid-December the house is finally
dressed for the season,
we are busy making and eating
too many sugar cookies,
and schooling is on a break
for two weeks.

'tis a sweet time of year.

Christmas waves a magic wand
over this world, and behold,
everything is softer
and more beautiful.
