copywork

"The Son of God became a man to enable men
to become the sons of God."
C.S. Lewis

We have two more weeks of schooling before our Christmas break. I am attempting to be most focused and diligent with my students with this break in sight.

  "And they shall call his name Emmanuel which being
interpreted is God with us."
Matthew 1:23

It is easy this time of year to get sidetracked with adventures and such, but I'm trying to stick to our regular schedule knowing that at the end of the month we'll have all those fun adventures and activities!

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be Wonderful,
Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 4:6

In the meantime I am incorporating the Christmas theme into our schoolwork. The kids do copywork to practice their handwriting. It has been a joy to research Christmas quotations and poems by which this practice can take place.

"Love came down at Christmas;
love all lovely, love divine;
love was born at Christmas,
stars and angels gave the sign."
Christina Rosetti

(Jars of Clay recorded a song with this Rosetti poem,
and the kids and I have been singing along lately!)
