gardening~april 2019~just lovely.

without shame the april gardening post receives an overload of photos.

how lovely april was for us. the weather was such a gift after our long, extreme winter. our first snowfall was, unexpectedly, in early november and the weather seemed to continue on a trajectory of suprises and extremes. since school began in september our lives seemed to be speckled with unexpected challenges and opportunities, so the turn to beautiful spring days of april seemed to be symbolic of refreshment and new beginnings.

in bloom have been the BLEEEDING HEART, LILAC, QUINCE, FORSYTHIA, GRAPE HYACINTH, MAGNOLIAS, SAND CHERRY AND STRAWBERRIES.

we have also planted TOMATOES, BUSH BEANS, CUCUMBERS, BEETS, POTATOES, CARROTS, KALE, SWISS CHARD, SPINACH, ONIONS, GARLIC, various HERBS, and an exhorbitant amount of ZINNIAS, COSMOS, PEONY POPPIES, CYPRESS VINE AND MOONFLOWER.

allthough we've done our fair share of weeding and setting things in order, really there is so much structure to the yard now that we are able to watch plants grow without too much effort on our parts.

may should be a similar low-key month with a profusion of color (roses, peonies, iris) and harvesting of strawberries, herbs and greens.
