maine! ship's harbor trail and bass harbor head light

Following our hike at Echo Lake we ate a picnic lunch and then took a short drive to see the Bass Harbor Head Light. What a picturesque location!

Then, just down the road, was the Ship's Harbor Trail rated as family friendly, and it was. It was a flat, forest trail that led to coastal views. It was a nice walk since we had just climbed so much that morning, but still had so much of the day to enjoy by having a mild adventure.

We then drove down the coast, (what a lovely thing to do!), had dinner in Southwest Harbor and then found a quiet spot to sit on the rocks (me) and browse for creatures (my loves).

This made for a lovely first full day of adventuring on Mount Desert Island.
