The September garden has steadily been giving us many vegetables to enjoy. More squash, eggplant, carrots, greens and the final tomatoes have been harvested. I have begun to clear the tomato plants, but am letting the out-of-control squash vines linger since they are still producing. What a gift to have such a long growing season! For six months, April thru September, we have enjoyed fresh greens. I do not remember such a regular supply of salads. I am glad to have planted mustard and cabbage greens, both new to me, just a handful of weeks ago. We have been enjoying these beautiful leaves paired with the kale.

We look to actually hit the 500 pound mark soon and with continued greens and squash this looks to be doable. It is always enjoyable to see what vegetable has produced how much. To me, it is worth the minimal effort to weight the produce.

October will be a month of final harvesting, clearing the beds and hopefully adding more structure to the garden beds so they will be that more efficient next year.
