Buffalo National River - November 2024.

The highlight of this trip to the Buffalo National River was a day exploring the Indian Rockhouse Trail. It is located at Buffalo Point on the lower Buffalo River. The huge cave is absolutely impressive and the trail loop meandering through forest and along the Panther Creek was well-kept and well-marked for a pleasant late autumn experience. This was our first-time on this trail it has encouraged us to research and consider hiking more of this area in the future. We once again enjoyed the Lost Valley and Kings River Falls trails. Visiting these trails routinely does not get old to us. The same trail on a new day is not the same experience ~ the weather, the amount of rain for the falls ~ is ever changing. Recent flooding had significantly eroded parts of the Lost Valley Trail and where Clark Creek met Cob Cave looked quite different (to us). We have now been hiking the Buffalo National River and surrounding area for a decade and are grateful that it has retained its remote charm with accessibility for those who desire to experience it.
