greywater
Some time ago I began using a large pot in the kitchen to hold items that can be put in our compost bin. I began to realize there was also a lot of excess water, greywater, I could set aside and use in our gardens or simply add to our rain barrels.
This past weekend I finally picked up a watering can, and each day since it has been filled with excess water from kitchen happenings. Even my children, when they have extra in their drinking cups, pour the water in the can. It's simply nice to have a system in the kitchen to use what we have, even seemingly extra, insignificant pieces, which can then be used in a beneficial way outside.
